Overview
A South African Managed Service Provider (MSP) and licensed ISP supporting 200+ clients across approximately 2,200 circuits is looking for a technician to own the day-to-day health of client and internal IT environments end to end — from the user's workstation to the servers and network links behind it — keeping everything running smoothly before problems reach the client.
Key Responsibilities
Windows Workstation & Server Administration:
* Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Windows workstation and Windows Server operating systems
* Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file/print services and the user account lifecycle
* Deploy, patch and support business applications, Microsoft 365 and line-of-business software
* Manage backups, restores, and server performance, capacity and health
End-to-End Network & IT Administration:
* Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, WiFi and VPNs
* Administer the full connectivity chain — LAN, WAN and ISP circuits — troubleshooting faults through to resolution
* Maintain accurate network documentation, IP schemes and asset records
Proactive Support & Procedural Maintenance:
* Monitor environments and act on alerts before they become outages
* Perform scheduled preventative maintenance: updates, health checks, backup verification, security hardening
* Log, prioritise and resolve tickets within SLA, keeping clients informed throughout
* Follow and continuously improve documented procedures for consistent, repeatable support
Requirements
* Minimum 3 years' hands-on IT support experience; 4–5 years preferred, ideally within an MSP or multi-client environment
* Certifications advantageous: CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft (MD-102, AZ-104 or Server), or equivalent networking certifications
* Matric essential; IT qualification or diploma advantageous
* Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport (client site visits required)
* Windows 10/11 and Windows Server (2016–2022) administration
* Active Directory and Microsoft 365
* Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN
* Firewall and switch configuration
* Backup and endpoint security tools
* Clear, accurate ticket documentation
Culture Fit
Puts the client first (owns a problem until it's genuinely solved, not just closed); stays a step ahead (prevents faults rather than just fixing them, flags risks early); communicates clearly and professionally, in plain language when needed; takes pride in clean configurations and proper documentation; stays calm and methodical under pressure; keeps learning as technology evolves.
Benefits
* Business travel reimbursed at prevailing AA rates (per kilometre)
* Planned weekend/after-hours work compensated at applicable overtime rates
* Standby allowance payable when rostered for after-hours/on-call availability
